Hyosung Motorcycles advice on what to wear...

Helmets: Essential by law it doesn't matter if you are riding two minutes down to the local dairy or doing a long haul ride the helmet is compulsory. Buy the best you can afford as one day it could save your life. Make sure it meets all the standards and always try it on if you can, the shape and fit of all helmets are different - even in the same brand the styles vary. Find a helmet that suits what you are doing, are you a commuter? consider a tinted internal sun visor! A helmet that suits you will make your motorcycle experience all the more enjoyable.

Jackets: The most important factor here is to consider what you want out of your jacket. Are you a weekend rider that wants the looks and protection? Go leather! Or are you an all weather commuter that needs versatility - textile is for you! Get one that has CE approved armour in the elbows and shoulders as minimum, a foam back protector is good but a back protector is best. Consider ventilation and the weight of the thermal liner - is this going to be your one and only all year jacket?

Pants: Often overlooked riding pants are actually more important than most people think. Good riding pants will offer protection from not only the rain and wind but also a potential accident. Again look for pants with knee and hip armour as these are most prone to injury. Almost all motorcycle pants are water proof but be sure to check. Fair weather riders might also want to consider protective jeans such as Bull-IT that offer not only the look but also abrasion resistance and optional additional knee and hip armour.

Gloves: COMPULSORY! Your hands are critical and gloves must always been worn. You can purchase summer or winter and even mid season gloves so there are no excuses. Gloves will keep your hands warm and dry and offer you the protection you need.

Boots: Buying good boots could be the difference between a serious foot, ankle or leg injury and walking away. Buy the best boots you can afford, better boots offer better protection, water proofing and comfort.
